About Us

I kind of feel silly writing about myself- but here it goes!

My name is Kristen Gallant.  I have 3 children.  Two I gave birth to, and a stepson.  My husband and I met through Boy Scouts, we were both on a committee for a District campout!
I love spending time with my family.  I realize every day is a gift with them, and it goes by so quickly.  We love to camp, do arts and crafts (ok, well my husband, not so much on the arts and crafts) and dance!
The kids are on a Native American Dance Team called Hitchiti, through the Boy Scouts- yes, even my daughter!  It is great to have them all into something together, which they truly love.
My love of photography started when I was 8 years old.  My mom gave me a 35mm camera that had all sorts of features.  My favorites being macro and double exposure.  I just realized today, that those 2 features are still very dear to my heart, but in a different way.  With the macro, I was in love with everything small. It was my first love of shooting newborns- but they weren't human. Baby sprouting plants, puppies and other small animals!  Haha, my first newborn photos!
Double exposure was great! I could take a picture of my sister doing a head-stand- then turn the camera upside down and do it again! It was like she had a twin standing on top of her!  Today, these images are created a little easier in photoshop! LOL But, I love that I know how to do it in camera, with film.  An art that is sure to be lost in this generation!
My husband started our photography company.  Back then, I just edited pictures. Soon, I picked up the camera and started experimenting. I quickly realized there is a difference between a good snapshot and a professional portrait.  I look back at the images from when I started- which I thought were amazing at the time- and I cringe! Since then, I've absorbed myself in classes, workshops, mentoring with other professionals...........anywhere I can learn.
When I photographed my first newborn, I totally fell in love and realized that's what I wanted to do.  I love everything about babies.  When I'm doing a session- I am in my "happy place".  I find it fascinating that these little people have so much personality so quickly.  They are all very particular about what they like, and what they don't.  It is so amazing.  I am never calmer than when I am doing a session.  I don't care if they are crying, soiling my blankets and props- it doesn't matter.  I have parents tell me almost every session that they could watch me all day (some have, lol).  Truth is, I COULD do it all day!
