What is a Newborn Session?
Newborn sessions are done before baby is 12 days old (the sooner, the better). This is not because they are still tiny- it's because that's when they are still sleeping fairly often. Our newborn style is sleepy without clothes. We have tons of hats and props and encourage you to bring a sentimental item to include in the session.
Baby Safety?
I specialize in newborn posing. Every finger and toe is placed to capture the perfect image. That being said, we take special efforts to keep baby safe. Unlike chain studios- our blankets, props, wraps, etc. are all washed and sanitized both before and after each newborn. This is regardless of if they've been soiled or not. Also, you may notice some of our images involve babies hanging from cocoons or babies propped in cute and unusual positions. These are all done with babies safety in mind. I am trained not only in posing, but image retouching- which is how these images come to life! Please, do not let anyone who isn't trained attempt any of these poses with your newborn.
What to expect?
Our newborn sessions are very relaxed and non-rushed! A typical session lasts about 2 hours, but, depending on baby's mood, can be up to 4 hours. This gives plenty of time for baby to nurse when necessary, be cleaned up and get a little love from mom and/or dad. Every element of the session is controlled, especially just for baby. From the temperature of the room, to the peaceful quiet. When you book your session, and we have our customization meeting, you will be given a list of things to bring and more details.
What is Custom Photography?
We start off by getting to know our clients. We urge you to call us, while you are still pregnant, so we can design a session completely for you. This includes colors, props, poses you love and any sentimental items you want included. Everything in your custom session is planned well in advance- we don't believe in having clients just showing up and winging it. We want your images to be everything you dreamed of, and, hopefully, even more! We will also discuss how you plan on using your images- so that we can shoot for anything special. For example- if you know you want an album- we know to shoot a little more than usual. If you have a particular wall you think you may want a canvas or print for- we will know if we need to shoot more vertical or horizontal shots.
